Floating stars and flying comets,

hand in hand, 

they glide, sail away,

drifting off into a land, 

a land which one from their land of origin

can only imagine,

imagine as fantasy

and not as real life.

Octavious and Erica drift 

across the galaxies

to approach upon another…world…together…


Er-i-ca… Er-i-ca… Er-i-ca…


Oc-ta-vi-ous… Oc-ta-vi-ous…



They called out to each other. but everything moved slowly.  Though it may have seemed like an eternity, it only lasted seconds, giving Octavious just enough time to take her hand as space itself literally ripped from its seams and a bolt of warm light came streaming into their starry atmosphere, flooding out all darkness.


“Here it comes!” Octavious called out.  “It’s gonna get a little bit louder too, boo, hang in there okay?  We’re almost finished.”


The light had a life of its own.  It began branching out in unlikely directions.  The largest of the light rays looked as though it was searching for Octavious and Erica—it craned and swooped around until it paused, facing in their direction.


“I’m Scared! “ Erica shouted. “That thing is looking at us!!”


“Don’t be, it’s not going to hurt.  Besides, I can’t let anything happen to you.  Now get ready, here it comes!”


The beam of light opened wide and sucked them both in like a hyperbolic vacuum. Shhhhwoop!  


And just like that, they were back on Earth, sprawled out on the front lawn of Tarsus High.

  Assuming that nothing else could go wrong, Octavious headed to his bedroom chambers, ran water for a long, hot, shower, and prepared himself as best as he could for what was to come in Erica’s book.
