Back at home, in her room, Ertifferrah wondered exactly what Lady Governess meant. It just wasn’t making any sense. She shook off the idea by coming up with an excuse that maybe the wardrobe she was wearing complimented her eyes. Yes, that had to be the reason. Then again, she didn’t have any makeup today, so what exactly, was she getting at? It’s rare for her to even consider applying makeup because there isn’t any need to. The only time make up was ever on her face, was her sixteenth birthday and in her dream…, but it couldn’t be. There was no way of her knowledge about that.

Normally, Ertifferrah would sit and eat an afternoon snack over at her bedroom window, but this evening, she was ready to close the blinds early to see how well the new potion worked.

Scared about the previous outcome of taking too much, she had thoughts of maybe not being able to wake up from the dream and became worried. Then again, not waking didn’t sound so bad after all. At least then she wouldn’t have to struggle to find proof that there was more to Integrity than most people believed.

Though, it was becoming vaguely clear that no one wanted to hear what she had to say, especially, the day Ertifferrah had to present a ten-minute presentation about a topic of her choice during a public speaking class. The assignment accumulated as a great portion of the final grade for the end of the school year.

Doubts clouded her mind as the day before and of the presentation because she had already predicted how her peers and teacher included, would respond to her. Like always, some would scoff, others snickered and passed cruel notes around that were filled with the typical remarks such as “Ertifferrah, the loon! She was crazy from the womb!”  Or, “The crazy sun worshiper.” The list goes on, but why bother to mention what makes one sad? Everyone already knew what her presentation was going to be about without her having to say a word.

She had grown tired of struggling with the urge to find proof and tired of not being able to find it as well, Consistently hitting dead ends had bruised her emotionally, especially when the trail. She felt as though she was letting Integrity down with every failed attempt.

Feeling there was really nothing more to lose, traveling to her so-called dream world and possibly not being able to awake didn’t seem so bad. Besides, Octavious would be there!

Since one couldn’t be too certain, she searched through her chest of drawers and found a Protector’s Pendant. Quickly placing it around her neck, she gave it a quick kiss in the hopes that just in case there was a problem, maybe the pendant could help her wake up.

This time, the potion was more of a dark sea-green color, and the container was much taller. It glowed brightly in the dark, so there was no need to light a candle.

She unscrewed the top and put it on the dresser. Getting the measuring stick and taking a quick sniff of the mixture, she felt her stomach churn. It didn’t smell nearly as refreshing as the other.

“Okay, this is it.” Clearly, a marker indicating where the filling point was to stop, Ertifferrah deliberately poured past the limit. The chest quickly moved up and down as she sucked in deep gulps of air in an attempt to psyche herself up to take the drink. She growled lightly, preparing for the kill, and scruffily chugged it down.

It wasn’t long before she began to feel extremely ill. Attempting to make it to a wastebasket, her thoughts racing, she wondered if Lady Governess knew just how drastic the effects of the potion and hadn’t intended to tell her. It was too late now. She could feel the potion running its course as it spread through her veins, pulsating uncomfortably. With every heartbeat, it was s if the potion ripped away at her insides. It burned badly, and soon, the pain became too much to bear. Losing all composure, she cried out in agony as it gave one final blow of pain to her temples, causing them to erupt with pain. Eyes rolling back into her head, Ertifferrah’s body gave out from the strain, and she blacked out.
